Dear all,
When driving I can hear little squeaks from the rear of the car but I am not sure where they come from.
It feels like that they come from the rear self covering the boot or maybe under the rear bench-seat.
On shaking inspection with the car standing none of these squeaks re-appear from either the self or the rear seats.
What could it be? Should I take the rear shocks in account?

I had this in the past and it turned out to be the shock rubbing on the turret, the bush had moved. Took me ages to figure out what it was, it drove me nuts.

They're not just coming from the hatch? Maybe try putting a folded blanket between the hatch and the car body so the hatch is not fully closed and the catch is not engaged, and go for a drive..

was a ser 3 as I haven’t seen one of those in England. If it is a ser 2, it could be as Ben_nz said the boot hatch catch. I had up rated suspension on my ser 2's and went through several catches, just before breaking they would squeak as the metal gave up, I still have one spare

There was a squeak at the back of the Imola when I got it.
It turned out to be from the plastic pivot pins at the front of the parcel shelf. I put a faint smear of Vaseline on them.

Wow - am I to understand Alfa actually improved something over the life of the model? 
I assumed they'd just leave the hatch the same - fitted with a borderline unusable catch requiring ridiculously fine ajustment and only operable from the drivers seat, as if it were designed in a big hurry by someone from the wrong department so they could all go home early and get pizza. 
One of mine has drifted out of tolerance so if I open it then shut the drivers door on the way to the boot, that vibration re-locks the boot so I have to go back and try again..[/quote]

And on the other car a previous owner has had to add more layers of rubber to create a greater springing effect so the hatch pops open clear of the catch.
