On our old '91 1.7ie while the door was locked (didnt realise this), pulled the door handle and it pulled out, and wont return back in. This car went to meet its maker and we never got around to solving the problem.
HOWEVER...
We now have another 1.7ie from '91 and the same thing has happened, I hear that this is an easy thing to solve - any tips before I strip the door panel off? |

nope, gotta pull the inside door panel off. While you are there make sure everything is lubricated.

Easy as pie. i swear those door handles are made out of cheese. three times inside a year (different handles) so far. door card off, waxoyl thoroughly, fix door handle. sorted!
