Difficult subject this one. I know we all need the stuff to go about our daily business but I can't help agreeing with what Clarkson said about it. As a product, considering the process it has to go through, it's relatively cheap and even then about 60% of it is tax. You'd have to pay a similar price for a litre of water!
There's a fine line between making the stuff affordable and setting it at a price that makes us think twice about jumping in our cars for any length journey. Glad it's not a decision I have to make.
(would like to see a major reduction in price around the middle of June though ) |

Why not Esso or BP- what have I missed?
I remember Clarkson saying that petrol was cheaper than milk a few years ago- it's not anymore, it's probably dearer than coca-cola for a litre bottle in a super market now i'd guess.

The reason for boycotting Bp and Esso is that they are the largest oil companies in europe, they buy the oil from the far east at a real discounted rate at the mo but they have not passed the reduction on to us, and the government is laughing as it means they are collecting more taxes. Its belived that by the summer the costs could esculate to £1.50p a Litre!!?!!. By boycotting the LARGEST companies who supply fuel means they should reduce or at least pass the savings on.
Well that was what I read anyway. _________________ PHAT 33 |

I never voted for this lot of taxing morons - if you did, and you're complaining, then shame on you. _________________ Fiat Bravo 165 Sport |

With our companies such as BP why on earth do they charge so much for our own petrol?
We're not importing it from anywhere.
In Venezuela they only pay about a dollar for a whole tank of petrol due to their supplies!!!
Imagine having a tank for 1 quid in the UK!!! |

Tax, tax and more tax......
I think a litre of petrol costs about 45p (ish) before the government get their hands on it. |
