I had issues with my wipers where they had no power and would constantly get jammed and burn fuses occasionally ( even with just 1 wiper).

I disasembled the whole unit uncluding the gears in the motor unit.

I found that the grease had congealed into a glue like consistency!!
Took a large amount of petrol/thinner to remove the old grease.

Re-greased, put it all back together and wow. What a difference.

Nice and smooth, fast and quiet.

Avoided an expensive garage repair job. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Now I'm thinking if my window mechanisms and motor have the same problem.

They are just so slow. Have to start unwinding them 5 mins before I hit the toll road!!

Worth a look if the grease is old.

Or maybe it's just the design!

How fast do your front windows move up and down on the electric S2 versions?

Yeah, interesting about the wipers - I am considering changing mine on my white 33. Let me know how you get on with the window motors as they are slow on both my 33s.
Regards.

Yeh try taking out the motor gears of your wipers first. Maybe you have the same issue with the old grease. I was skeptical it would make such a difference but that appeared to be the issue.

Someone told me he put some silicon on the window seals and his windows worked much faster.

Will try that first before taking the mechanism apart.

Yeh the silicon lasted about a week and just made a smear up and down my windows.

I'm intending to remove the door panel and clean and regrease the mechanisms. The right side vibrates also.

But the door panels are the hardest part. I couldn't remove the right door panel. I will try again. Didn't want to break the plastic clips.

I have no special tool. Do I need one?

Can't quite visualize that photo.
It's the part behind the door panel?
I expected to see a lever arm and motor.

The special tool is http://www.sourcingmap.com/pieces-noscratch-car-door-panel-trim-removal-tool-audio-refit-set-p-30471.html?currency=GBP&utm_source=google&utm_medium=froogle&utm_campaign=ukfroogle
If the door card is hard to remove, it might be very usefull. I have never used one Smile I carefully prize it up and off.

The pic i posted was to show you where the clips are. the clips are on the door card and push into the door, you can see 2 on the left virtically, 3 on the bottom horizontally an 1 on the right virtically, there are others on the right but i didnt get them.

I know, I'm sure there are cheaper ones out there, I used to borrow a mates metal one and wrap it in insulation tape when i was scared to take off the ones for the boot lining.
