Hi,
I was the lucky ( i think:)) recipient of a free 33, cheers Suds!, late last year. I wasn't too sure what to do with it as it needs a fair amount of welding, but seeing as it was free I thought I'd better try and fix it. I have been lucky to find a local chap who does good work for a good price. So, a week tomorrow, it goes off for major under body work.
It needs repairs to both sills, one requiring a new sill (other side done but not very well), inner sills, front drivers side floor, front inner wings etc etc. The cahp doing the welding will be providing pics of progress so I'll update when I can.
I've ditched the very smelly and rotten interior and will be fitting an S3 16 valve interior. Engine wise I'll stick with the stock 1.5 for now, although I do have a spare 16 valve motor.
A few pics for you

have you stripped out the sound deadening matting, I will hide a mutitude of rust like I found out last year, it trebled the amount of work needed. _________________ PHAT 33 |

I have, and it did! The interior is completely stripped, plus i've removed the engine, gearboc and fuel tank. So the underside is fully visable |

good luck with the car.
p.s i always remove the sound proofing mat that is under the carpet as it soaks up the water and rusts the floors. |

Hi mate, you get around . I learnt the lesson about the sound deadning material with my first Alfa, an 82 sprint Volece. I had too scoop it out when I lifted the carpets on that one! |

Thanks, I dropped it off at the welders/fab shop today. I had a look at some of the other retro stuff there doing, it includes a rover P6, Jag XJS, Manta A, mk1 golf etc. The standard of fabrication and welding looks awesome, (and great value as well ) |

At last I'm getting of my back side and posting some progress pics. The welding is all done and the cars currently having the repaired sections painted. I'd love to give it a full respray but funds are tight. I'll hopefully be bringing her home next weekend.
I've also sourced a really good S2 interior although I might go for the S3 interior as the S3 seats sit lower and i'm 6ft 4. Engine wise I'll be sticking the 1.5 back in unless anyone knows of a good 1700 for sensible money (i.e. £150). Anyway enough waffle the pictures!
All the work has been done by Dave and Grey at Autofusion, top blokes who have a genuine passion for old retro metal. They gave me a price and stuck to it even though the work required was more than originally thought. Thats a rare thing these days! Check them out on

I'll post more pics when I get her back (don't hold your breath though;)
Cheers

Great work done by the welders, I was also lucky in finding a decent chap who fabricated my roll cage, unfortunatly any extra work he found was reflected in my bill but it did cause him an exrta 3 days worth of work!!. _________________ PHAT 33 |
