Can anyone help
I am looking to build a 1.7 16v supercharged engine
Does anyone know what static compression ratio i.e 7:1, 8.2:1 , I would end up with if I fitted 1.7 8valve pistons into a 1.7 16valve block.
Have been advised in the region of 7:1 but exact would be good.
Also with the heads being different would I need to pocket the pistons to clear the valves at all?
Lastly is there a copy of 16v workshop manual online anywhere
Thanks

Hi
Manuals here for download : http://www.cuoresportivo.pl/__stare33/33_dok.html
All not for 16v, something to read anyway.
Some "missing pages" for manuals found from sanderfamily.com
Good luck

I have never supercharged a boxer, but one thing that is clear is that if you are lowering the static compression ratio, that means you will definately have lots of room between the piston and the valves.
You will not have to pocket the pistons, relax.
As for the actual compression ratio, the only way to have a clue what that will be is to build and measure - sorry! Unless we have the dimensions for everything, and the volume of the combustion chamber in the head, we can't even start to guess
