v.loud clapping noise

When coming off the motorway yesterday my car just cut out at 40-50mph. I pulled over waited a bit and started my car back up. It took a while to get going but it started eventually. when i pulled away and the revs biult up a little bit a started getting this horrible clacking noice comig from the engine bay. the car now feels like it has lost a lot of power. does anyone know the problem

Sounds like skiped/shred cambelt, which is very expencive, usualy there is need for new engine.

Hi there,
sound's like you killed one side of your engine,bin there done that Crying or Very sad
but i fixed it myself,mite be the driver's side,i did all 8 valve's on one side and bent 1 on the other which my mate straightend for me.where do you live?if you are good with a spanner then you can do it your self.it's not that hard,just take's time and will save you lot's of dosh Wink if you checkout some of my older post's you can read how i sorted my engine with the help of other's on here,all is not lost if you have bent some valve's.trust me,i'ed never timed a car up in my life before two/ three month's ago. now i'm a 16v god Laughing it go like a rocket now Cool
