|
|
Hi all...
I was wondering, if the alloys, from the 145/6 Junior would fit in my 33 16v...
That`s almost impossible to get decent tyres in 185/60 R14 (with sporty characteristics), and in 15`, the choice is bigger...
Do anyone knows, if they will fit, or do i need anything else...???
Will i be able to use the same studs???
Any help will be apprecieted
Regards

Hi
I have Yokahama A539 tyres on the P4 in 185/60 14 sizes. Work OK.
Think you can use 145/6 alloys, but you will need spacers to get the offset correct and also enlarge the size of the centre hole in the wheel slightly. (only by 1mm or so).
All the best

There is a wonderful blue series 3 33 usually parked in the street next to mine wearing those exact 145/6 alloys.
I drool everytime I walk by it! |

Those tyres, are no longer for sale in Portugal...
As well as my current tyres...Bridgestone Potenza RE720.
Everywere i look for them, they tell me that the 185/60R14 size is no longer in production, and when the stock is over, i`ll be forced to change to other tyre/brand...
All i´m left with, are those "ENERGY" tyres, that are not up to the task of putting up with the type of cornering that i`m used to!!!

I am a complete ignorant, in technical details about the wheels. Can you be more specific?
What is "offset"???
If i need spacers, how "big" should they be?? (big=Thickness)
Also, i presume that if i need spacers, i will need bigger wheel studs...
Thanks in advance

Hi
Offset is the distance between the mid point of the wheel (width wise) and the mounting face of the wheel.
Table of offsets here:-
http://www.alfa-pages.co.uk/offsets.htm
Seems most 145/6 wheels would only need a fairly small spacer, but using them from a Cloverleaf / TI would need fairly substantial spacers.
All the best

Hi...
Thanks, for the replies...Now, i understand what is "offset"...
However, i always presumed that 145/6 wheels were "caried over" from the 33.
But, according to the list, the Alfa 145/146 1.4/1.6/1.7 16V have a 43 mm, but the 33, all have 39 mm...
The alloys, that i was considering, are presumably. from the 50mm type
Is there any marking in the alloys, were i can confirm this, or i have to measure one??
Thanks for your time

Camillo,
You can also use 185/65R14 tyres. The only differents is that when you think you´re driving 100 km/h your driving 104 km/h.
Or you can order tyres on-line... Th Dutch shop had 185/60R14. Other shops also!

Hope this will help |

Don't think they are marked. Think you will have to measure them.
We bought some A539s about a month ago in the UK.
All the best

Hi
Thanks again for your replies...

Unfortunatly, i can`t. The IPO (Portuguese MOT), doesn´t allow changes in tyres sizes...
To change tyre sizes, you have to get a letter, from your`s car main representative, stating that the car characteristics are not affected and i get new car papers stating the new approved tyre measure...
I can get this letter, but only in 195/50 R15 measure, not in 185/65R14.
Strange thing, is that the guys at the IPO center, are very strict in "whats on paper issues", but turn blind eyes on bushes, shocks (a shock, only fails an IPO, if it is leaking),suspension geometry, etc...
But if your car papers say one thing, the car must comply with this, or else it fails the IPO...
Thanks for your time

Hi there. The 145/6 rims have a centre bore slightly smaller (about 0.5 or one mm) and can do with a bit of grinding off. Never force it in. You definately need spacers esp for the rear. It touches the trailing arm. I think I got away with 6mm spacers and still seats in the centre bore. Can't remember exactly but you'll get a very clear picture once you try to fit them in.
Good luck! _________________ Each time I speed I say, "Dear lord, make me fast and accurate..." |
